What is ADPCA
The Association for the Development of the Person-Centered Approach (ADPCA) is an international community of therapists, educators, students, and researchers drawn together by the work of Carl Rogers. It grew out of a network proposed by David Cain in 1981 and held its first meeting at the University of Chicago in 1986 — with Rogers himself taking part.
The association has no hierarchical structure: decisions are made openly at annual business meetings, and the annual conference — with its encounter groups and community meetings — has been its heartbeat for four decades. Since 2025, the Carl Rogers Center has hosted the conference's China Hub, a fully online gathering held with the agreement of each year's hosts.
2026 marks the 40th anniversary of the Association for the Development of the Person-Centered Approach (ADPCA). With the Greek host's blessing, the ADPCA Conference China Hub runs fully online, July 17–19, 2026 — encounter groups, a 24-hour open room, presentations and three invited roundtables, all on Zoom with live captioning.
