About CRC

Established in 2021, the Carl Rogers Center (CRC) is dedicated to rooting and developing the Person-Centered Approach in China, while striving to connect Chinese person-centered counselors with the global community. Here, we gather a group of practitioners deeply influenced by person-centered philosophy—counselors with diverse professional backgrounds united by a shared belief: that the power of growth originates from within every individual.

This total trust in the person and faithful understanding of experience form the cornerstone of all our courses, groups, and dialogues. Since our inception, the Center has hosted salons, courses, and reading groups on person-centered counseling. Notably, since August 2022, we have continuously offered pro bono Encounter Groups to the public. We are also exploring the extension of the person-centered approach into other fields such as parenting, with support communities and thematic lectures held periodically.

Currently, we are preparing a two-year systematic training program in Person-Centered Counseling. The curriculum is adapted from the doctoral specialization at the Illinois School of Professional Psychology (ISPP)—the only APA-accredited doctoral program in North America with a specialization in Client-Centered and Experiential Psychotherapy. Simultaneously, we continue to offer single-topic courses covering the development of empathic listening skills, the personal and professional development of counselors, person-centered case conceptualization, working with difficult cases, and trauma theory.

The Center maintains connections and collaborations with various international organizations, including the Association for the Development of the Person-Centered Approach (ADPCA), the Center for Studies of the Person (CSP, founded by Carl Rogers), Chicago Counseling Associates (CCA, whose lineage traces back to the Counseling Center Rogers established at the University of Chicago), and Person Centered Psychology Services (PCPS) in Chicago.
