Reflections on Empathy and Presence

Today in the therapy room, I encountered a case that gave me a new understanding of empathy. As the client described a painful experience, I found myself not only listening to her story but truly sensing the deep loneliness and helplessness at her core. This experience has reaffirmed my conviction that true empathy is a state of total presence.
